THE HUMBLE PETITION OF THE INDIAN
CONTINGENT OF THE HONG KONG POLICE
FORCE.

SHE WETH:
1. The undersigned Indian members of the Police Force of
the Colony of Hong Kong have been authorised and deputed by the
Indian Contingent of the said Force to place before you the
following grievances for your consideration.
2. All Indian members of the Police Force are India domiciled
and intend to return to India on completion of their service under
the Government of the Colony of Hong Kong.
3. The pension paid to such Indian members of the Force on
their retirement is governed by Regulations issued by the Hong
Kong Government in October 1933 and apply to all pensions paid
after the 1st January 1933.

The amount of the pension is based on the average amount
of the salary payable during the period of three years preceding
the day of retirement subject to certain qualifications as set
out in the Regulations.
5. In computing the average salary no account is taken of
any allowances which have been made in addition to the substan-
tive salary and Your Petitioners desire to draw particular
attention to the fact that as a result they lose the benefit of
an amount equal to one-sixth of their salary when their pension
is assessed. The allowance above referred to is the amount
